Tying the Skinny Water Clouser Minnow Fishing Fly
A new material for a classic

The innovation in fly tying materials over the past decade has been exciting. It is fun to find applications for new materials like Faux Bucktail from Flymen. Faux Bucktail is a synthetic fiber. While each fiber is tapered, all the fibers are the same length. The fibers are solid, which means they do not flare like natural buck tail. This also means they can be wrapped around a hook shank. What these synthetic fibers give up in movement, they arguably make up for in durability.
One of the things that we really like about Faux Bucktail is that it can be used in different ways…from clousers to small midges.
