A great lead fly during the winter

The Poison Tung, or the Deep Blue Poison Tung, is a great lead fly for wintertime fishing. Paired with a small midge pattern, this fly helps get your flies deep. Like most guide-inspired patterns, this fly is simple; only three materials. Prior to showing the traditional recipe, we show a variant that is durable and doesn’t require non-standard colors of wire. That said, colored wires are easy to come by these days even if they were more difficult to find during the global pandemic. This variant uses fluoro thread as a rib and UV resin, a technique that can be used beyond just this fly.
