Tying a Jiggy Soft Hackle Carrot Fishing Fly

Hot spots can be incorporated into flies in numerous ways. This fly uses fluoro floss – typically in orange – as a rib. We like to fish this fly as either a point fly or as a dropper on a hopper-dropper rig. We’ve found that it works especially well during the fall when there are red quills still fluttering around. We suspect it would work equally well for October Caddis. Try varying the rib color – we like red.
