Got the run off blues, or maybe you’re a stillwater regular? If you’re a regular you know that, in general, there are several important categories of bugs for lakes: chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, and small baitfish. This fly incorporates aspects of Gary Borger’s classic damsel nymph and Mr Mayer’s more recent mini leech damsel. There are several materials that can be substituted on this fly, which we list below. On a windy day, fish this under an indicator. When there’s less natural action created by wind and waves, try a slow hand twist retrieve.
