There are techniques that transcend any one fly pattern. When we first saw Mr Craven’s “Timmy” fly, we had numerous thoughts on how to use the technique on existing flies. We’ve found that the fibers can be trimmed long (like the original Timmy), which helps create a fly that looks and acts similar to a traditional parachute. Similarly, leaving the wing/wingcase loop large can simulate emerging wings, while a tighter loop might be used the same way foam is used on an emerger for a wingcase.
