The Big Bear Baetis is a slim BWO nymph that uses only a few materials – thread, Pheasant Tail barbs, Holo Flash, and legs. BWOs can be small, especially during Autumn hatches. Tying legs on small nymphs can be frustrating. Here are two different methods that make tying legs on small nymphs less frustrating.
- Hook: Firehole 718, sizes 18-24. https://www.discountflies.com/...
- Thread: Tan or brown
- Tail and back: Pheasant Tail, natural. https://www.discountflies.com/...
- Body and Thorax: Thread.
- Wingcase: Cascade Crest Flat Holographic Tinsel - Large , Black.
- Legs: Ostrich, Midge Body Thread, or Body Quills. https://www.discountflies.com/...
