Kirk Seely, Fly Designer
by Chris Nielsen (Admin) Admin • November 23, 2018 in Fly Designers
Kirk was born and raised in Montana, where he developed the love for trout fishing at a young age. Later, while living in Colorado, and Texas, Kirk developed his love for Fly Fishing on the beautiful Colorado rivers looking for trout and the sandy flats of South Texas chasing tailing redfish.
Kirk manages and promotes Cancun Fly Guides, specializing in Fly Fishing and Light Tackle flats fishing in the beautiful waters of Isla Blanca, Mexico. Isla Blanca is a peninsula just 30 minutes north of Cancun that separates the Caribbean Sea from the Laguna Chachmochuch. The Isla Blanca area is an exciting fishery and an entire ecosystem complete with fish, turtles and native bird species. Whether it be Bonefish or Permit on the shallow water flats or Tarpon and Snook in the mangrove-lined shores and canals, Isla Blanca has it all. If you are looking for a Grand Slam (Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon), Isla Blanca is the place to go.
Kirk is an accomplished fly tier and contributes unique patterns to the Cancun Fly Guides team. Kirk manages the promotional and marketing functions of the team and hits the water whenever time lets him. Kirk speaks English and Spanish and lives in Cancun with his wife and children and has the same passion for Fly Fishing as Captain Edwin and Captain Luis.
Kirk's designed the Tarpon Screamer, available in 3D eyes and white eyes, and this fly is his go to fly when fishing for tarpon.
