Tying a PMD Split Back Perdigon Fishing Fly

Some of our best sellers are the split back nymphs; both the BWO and PMD versions are fish catchers. Here’s our attempt to put this into a perdigon style fly.

Here is the recipe for the PMD version:

• Bead: Firehole slotted tungsten, 2.5mm. We like gold.       https://www.discountflies.com/product/M-FIRE25MM.html
• Thread (underbody): SemperFli Nano Silk, 18/0 Olive. https://www.discountflies.com/product/M-SNS18.html. You could also use Brown for the entire fly so that you do not need to change the thread color for the thorax.
• Tail: CDL or other stiff tail fiber like Brown Pheasant Patch fibers https://www.discountflies.com/product/M-CCPHP.html
