Fly of the Week

Fly of the Week - Jujubaetis Emerger Flashback

The Jujubaetis Emerger Flashback has an eye catching (both fish and fisherman) segmentation, slim profile, and flash along the top to simulate an emerging nymph. This is a great choice to use during a Baetis Hatch.
Fish it in the film if you see surface activity, or fish it deep. This fly gets bit!

Fly of the Week - Jiggy Blowtorch Nymph TB

The Jiggy Blowtorch Nymph is one of the most successful nymphs to be fished in the competitive fly fishing arena. This fly produces everywhere it is fished, particularly when the water is cold.

Fly of the Week - Jiggy Mini Leech Black

Based on Colorado's world-class guide and tyer Landon Mayer's Mini Leech, this is a jig pattern that will produce in many scenarios including:
- High water conditions,
- Low light,
- Dead drifted as a point fly,
- On the swing at the end of a drift, or
- Stripped, either by itself or as the trailer in a two-fly streamer rig.
Leeches are a high protein meal for fish. While many of us think about leeches as the large, worm-like slugs we saw in the classic Stand By Me, most freshwater leeches are small, highly active swimmers. Landon's choice of micro pine squirrel and osterich herl mimic both of these characteristics in a way that is often irresisable to fish. Consider all colors -- Brown, Black, and Rust.

Fly of the Week - Dura Jig Nymph

Fashioned from the Duracell Jig Nymph, this fly is tied to be durable. The mix of materials is unique: brown ice dub (which looks purple-ish), read wire, and a CDC collar. While this fly might not look like anything you'll find under a rock, the mix of materials is the right amount of flash and movement to turn heads. This fly is not a stranger to one-fly competitions....it is that good. Go for it.

Fly of the Week - Mercury Flashback Pheasant Tail

The mercury flashback pheasant tail is tied with a small highly reflective bead, which gives the appearance of a gas bubble, used by the natural insect to float to the surface.
The pheasant tail pattern is very effective, and the bead makes it even more effective!
This fly is very effective when fished as a dropper fly.

Fly of the Week - Black Beauty

The Black Beauty is one of the most effective midge patterns ever tied, and an absolute must fly during the cold months. If you ever wonder why this nymph is so effective, look under some rocks along the river. You will most likely see a lot of slender black midges!
