Fly of the Week

Fly of the Week - Pheasant Tail - Ice

Fly of the Week - Rojo Midge - Black

The small, red glass bead combined with a gill tuft and bright wire rib make for a very effective nymph. Fish the Rojo Midge as you would any other midge pattern.

Fly of the Week - Blindside Midge - Grey

Mr Easdon created this beauty over twenty years ago. Ostrich -- an overlooked material -- is a genius way to add a soft hackle. This fly has quite a following among anglers in Colorado, but we know it fishes well in a lot of places.

Fly of the Week - Zebra Midge Beadhead Bubbleback - Red

We'd like to know how many fish the zebra midge fools each year. It is a lot. Adding the glass bead imitates the tiny buble of gas the midge uses to float itself from the bottom to the top of the water. Fish this pattern at any depth.

Fly of the Week - Jiggy Red Dart

The Jiggy Red Dart is one of the most successful nymphs to be fished in the competitive fly fishing arena. This fly produces everywhere it is fished, particularly when the water is cold. We use a CDC soft hackle a bit more movement in the water.

Created by PA tyer Rudy Sentiwany in the1940s and popularized by now retired Colorado tyer Ed Rolka, this pattern can be difficult to find. It's a classic! it imitates a cased caddis larva very well. With a bead head, this fly gets down in a hurry.

Eggs...the egg has been the confidence fly for so many fly fishers throughout the years and a guides box always has a row or two of these colorful little balls of goodness. Of all the eggs out there, the Glo Bug has been the favorite of the eggs styles. Often fished in tandem with a different color Glo Bug or a San Juan Worm under an indicator.
