Fly Tying Materials

Many fly tyers love tying with Stripped Quills. Perfect Quills are a synthetic alternative, which provides the perfect quill every time which has a premarked black edging and looks natural. Natural Quills can be difficult to get hold of and the quality can be inconsistent. Natural Quills are often brittle and hard to use – you may have tried soaking them and experienced this first hand? No longer. Here you have Perfect Quills. 

Perfect Quills have been developed in two versions – True Colors and Transparent.  For the transparent quill anything tied below the Stripped Quill shows through, from threads to tinsels to a fluorescent thread.

Size small best for hook size #12 and below.

There are 25 quills per pack. Each quill is 100mm in length (you can get 2 flies per quill depending on your fly size.

We recommend a layer of clear Thin UV Resin over the quill.

Perdigons were first developed by the Spanish competition team but have become incredibly popular since and are now integral to fly boxes of tyers and anglers worldwide. A Perdigon fly typically is easy to tie and is designed to sink quickly. But you need a good selection of colors that have the right look for the perfect Perdigon.  This is why Perdigon Body was developed.

Perdigon Body is different compared to other tinsels because of the translucence. 

Technically speaking Perdigon Body is a 1/69”/0.37mm body material.

One of the best CDC's on the market, highest quality feathers, hand selected, dyed cold, and carefully packed. Dyed Feathers are from 4 to 6 cm and are mainly used for dubbing, soft hackles (using the clamp tool), or tying big wings like mayflies. All colours are dyed over natural white CDC...we do not start with bleaching!

CDC (Cul de Canard) feathers are feathers near "grease glands" under a duck's tail. Fly tying legend Rene Harrop described CDC in Fly Fisherman Magazine in the following way "CDC (cul de canard) feathers come from the preen gland of ducks. In appearance, they resemble small marabou blood feathers with unconnected fibers that radiate from tapered center stems. Soft yet strong, CDC floats remarkably well; flies tied with CDC are light and delicate on the water, and the fibers seem to pulse with the slightest breeze or motion of current. The ability to float a fly with less material lends a more realistic profile than is possible with conventional materials. Despite its subtlety, even a small amount of CDC is amazingly easy to see on the water."

Weighted flies often help us get quickly to where fish are, especially in fast currents. SemperFli Lead Wire is a round high grade lead wire which comes on a spool and can be used extensively to weigh down flies, making ribs etc especially nymphs.
