Despite it's name, the pale morning dun can hatch in the morning, the afternoon or evening. It is very common on most western waters, and trout really key in on this mayfly when it starts to move. Take several varieties of the PMD, because trout can be very selective, shunning one variety, while eagerly taking another.

Low-Ride-er...Salmonflies are notorious lowriders, or flush floaters. Another notorious low rider is the '64 Impala...Andrew Grillos developed one of the best fishing stoneflies of recent history. This foam-bodied, long legged, low riding bug will hold up a dropper nymph with ease but shines when dropped bankside.

This fly is likely considered as the same "species" as a Chubby Chernobyl, but related in the same way that a large timber wolf is related to a wiley coyote. This is the coyote; perfect for holding up a small dropper and small enough to fish by itself. This fly is desgined to float well and be highly visible.

Bob Quigley created this high floating, easy to see pattern with a wonderful mayfly profile to seduce the more finicky trout of the northern Rockies. The Split Flag is a hackle stacker pattern with a hi vis wing. Use this pattern for Callibaetis hatches on lakes or anywhere you would use a standard Adams.

In Midwest and Eastern rivers and streams, the Parachute White Fly is a late summer must have...commonly known as the White Miller, the Ephoron mayfly adult is known to hatch in clouds heavy enough to halt traffic and close bridges.
