Specially designed with a mix of natural and synthetic materials Dirty Bug Yarn was designed resulting from research of different dubbings when it was realized that many traditional dubbings were often ‘single color’ dubbings. In reality, if you look at a fly or nymph - like a baetis nymph - it may be olive in color but it is usually a mix of colors; nature is not monochromatic or single color. Using this insight, we made blends of colors and Dirty Bug Yarn was born. Essential dubbing colors and blends suitable for specific families of flies such as caddis have also been created to give tyers the very best options.
For people who are used to doing their own dubbing blends, working with Dirty Bug Yarn means you no longer have to worry about inconsistency or forgetting how you mixed your last blend! Tying with Dirty Bug Yarn means you can rely on a consistent blend ongoing.
Its worth noting that Dirty Bug Yarn does trap air and it will also take floatant. And its lovely if you taper it to a point.
These dubbing blends are then wonven into a rope and spooled. As a result, these ready made yarns can simply be tied and wound onto a hook. Try twisting the rope into a tight cord for natural segmentation! Developed twin strands Dirty Bug Yarn can be used straight off the spool for larger flies or split into single strands for smaller flies.
There are 5m / 5.4 yards (approx ) per spool.

Classic Waxed Thread 3/0 has been designed specifically for fly tying for large Salmon, Predator, Streamer flies and for deer hair spinning with its great strength and usually used on hook sizes 8 or larger. This thread is unique; laying flat with a two core construction but can easily be split to create dubbing loops and they are strong threads. We worked with our Pro Team to get the correct amount of wax on each thread to hold materials but not clog your bobbin holder. Semperfli created the highest quality polyester tying thread that you can have complete confidence in for your fly tying. This thrad is the Rolls Royce of tying threads

The 520 is Firehole's heaviest wire jig style hook with a 60 degree bend at the eye. Not only is it designed to allow for larger beads without impeding the gape opening, it is the tying worlds first continuous bend jig hook.

CDC (Cul de Canard) feathers are feathers near "grease glands" under a duck's tail. Fly tying legend Rene Harrop described CDC in Fly Fisherman Magazine in the following way "CDC (cul de canard) feathers come from the preen gland of ducks. In appearance, they resemble small marabou blood feathers with unconnected fibers that radiate from tapered center stems. Soft yet strong, CDC floats remarkably well; flies tied with CDC are light and delicate on the water, and the fibers seem to pulse with the slightest breeze or motion of current. The ability to float a fly with less material lends a more realistic profile than is possible with conventional materials. Despite its subtlety, even a small amount of CDC is amazingly easy to see on the water."

SEMPERFLI Tying Wire 0.3mm (Medium) is a brassie fly tying wire, non tarnishing and perfect for your heavy nymphs, brassies, copper johns, streamers, sea trout, predator and salmon flies as bodies, ribs or thoraxes. Measuring 0.3mm or 0.012 inch diameter the non tarnishing means it can even be used in saltwater.
Our spools have a removeable cap to re-trap the wire once you have removed a section to tie your flies.
Rather than cutting simply wiggle in a helicopter motion and it will break, saving damage to your scissors
