Cruising damsel nymphs fished toward the shoreline are irresistible to large trout. These nymphs don't swim very fast, so use a slow retrieve on a sinking tip line for best results.

on this pattern. I learned early that I had more takes on the mutilated (sans eyes) form of the fly.. so when I now change to a new fly, I clip off the eyes..
and the takes continue.
