The Griffith's gnat is almost universally included in the top 10 fly patterns of experienced anglers. Use it to imitate nearly anything that is small, flying around on the surface of the water.
NOTE: this fly is now tied with synthetic peacock. Picture forthcoming. Equally deadly.
Midges were being sucked from film and Griffiths Gnat brought em up to do more than reject them. Remember to come up slowly on hook set. Does good job on ants tight to bank as well.

I use this fly in the long, slow shallow pools with a very thin tippet. With the perfect drift downstream the fish come up and just sip these from the surface. These are great flies and well made. Highly recommend them!

Was successful using this as a dry (applied some silicone "salve").
