The Perdigon has nothing to stop it from dropping to the bottom and resembling the size and silhouette of just about any mayfly nymph. This is a perdigon style of the SOS Nymph that has become a favorite of many to immitate BWOs. We tie this fly on a Hanak 450BL.

Increased drifts without hanging up on the bottom is the biggest advantage this style nymph offers. This orientation also helps with a more positive hook up, typically pinning the fish top dead center allowing a faster and safer release.!

The Jiggy Red Dart is one of the most successful nymphs to be fished in the competitive fly fishing arena. This fly produces everywhere it is fished, particularly when the water is cold. We use a CDC soft hackle a bit more movement in the water.
