Snails are a major source of food for trout, and often overlooked by fishermen. Suspend one of these off of a strike indicator, and twich it occasionally.
The fly is made well, I'm curious how it will last, given the shell is hard. I might put a clear coat of epoxy on the shell to keep it from scratching.

I read an article about overlooked patterns and Snails were at the top of the list. Found these, bought both sizes, and proceeded to absolutely knock it out of the park on Sunfish, Crappie, Bass, and Carp. I even out fished my buddies who were using live Red Worms and Meal Worms. Caught dozens of fish on one of these and it still looks like new. Do yourself a favor and buy as many of these as you can afford. No matter where you fish, or what you fish for, your catch will improve. Hands down the most productive Fly I've ever encountered.

I fish mainly warm water lakes. I noticed a pond close to home that was full of snails. Put one of these on the line and caught bluegill, sunfish and small bass non-stop.
Just got back from the pond.

Fished a small popper with a snail trailing on a 20" line. Caught a dozen sunfish and one bass. 95% of the strikes came on the snail.
