As one of the most recognized fly patterns, the Hare's ear nymph has a history with every fly angler alive, and for good reason. Not many bugs can offer the bugginess, natural mottled color, and insect diversity that the Hare's Ear Nymph imitates. Add a little flashback and this bug will get noticed in off-color water or low light conditions. Fish this pattern with a Pheasant Tail Nymph, or below a Stimulator.
Have fished with success on a hopper dropper rig in Aug and early September. Have also used in June and July on my nymph rig. Can’t go wrong with some of these in your box!!
