Wooly Buggers For Bass

The Kreelex is a Chuck Kraft creation.  Chuck was a guide and master fly tyer.  As the story goes, Chuck guided 160+ days per year and started guiding in South America in the 1990's.  It was here that he first used the Kreinik flash that is used to tie this fly.  The material moves, pulsates, and breathes in the water. While the original name was the "Rolex," it didn't take long before his friends advised him that those watching might have an issue with the name.  This fly has produced trout, bass, and salt species.  We were first turned on to the fly as a point fly when Czech stlye nymphing.  George Daniel uses this fly with great success as a jigged streamer in high, stained water.  It works.  Everywhere. Beadhead Flashabugger - Peacock/Brown Tail - With a little added flash, this fly grabs the attention of anglers and fish! This color works year-around, but we found it is really effective when summer begins to fade and fall comes on... good for catching trout, carp, bass, pike, crappie, bluegill. A number of these flies should be in your fly boxes.

Bead Head Autumn Splendor - Its name says it all! Some rubber legs and flash in the tail make this fly all the more effective. Fish it in creeks, streams, rivers, ponds, reservoirs and lakes. Get some!

Conehead Bugger Rubberlegs - Brown - The addition of rubber legs and some crystal flash in the tail only make this woolly bugger more effective. Tied in a number of sizes and colors - because they work!

Beadhead Mini Leech - Black - Trout and bass love these leech imitations (they must love eating leeches!). They are effective year-around, but are particularly in demand for early season lake fishing. Use in a nymph rig as a dropper. You may be surprised! Not a fly one thinks of as go-to, but it is a great searching pattern for ponds and lakes. Good stuff. Proven.

Wiggle Flashabugger - Black - A cousin to the original wooly bugger, with a bit more flash. Gets down fast to the fish. Use 'em! Also available in Olive and White. Throw then for trout, bass, pike, bream, carp, etc.

Skully Bugger - White - This fly flat out gets you fish. The big eyes on the "Skull" bead up front add greatly to its attraction. It sinks fast and in this color is widely applicable to so many species of baitfish or gamefish fry. It works!

Bead Head Flashabugger - Peacock/Black Tail - Fish this with a slow retrieve in ponds and lakes, and dead drift as part of a nymph rig to imitate a leech. Go solo or as a tandem setup, and you are in the streamer business. Bonafide.

Beadhead Crystal Schlappen Bugger - Black - Think more flowing clothes as opposed to the form-fitting style of the traditional woolly bugger - but it is still dressed for success! The Beadhead Crystal Schlappen Bugger has a bit more bulk, which gives it a silky pulse as it is pulled through the water - or let to drift freely. Great for trout in a streamer application, also great for warm-water species with a bit slower retrieve.

Wooly Bugger - Brown - The wooly bugger is a pattern that is universally successful. This is a classic and the standard setter for much of streamer design. The marabou tail undulates in water and drives fish crazy. Keep a good assortment of this pattern. Also available in Black and Olive.
