Panfish Flies & Poppers

The Kreelex is a Chuck Kraft creation.  Chuck was a guide and master fly tyer.  As the story goes, Chuck guided 160+ days per year and started guiding in South America in the 1990's.  It was here that he first used the Kreinik flash that is used to tie this fly.  The material moves, pulsates, and breathes in the water. While the original name was the "Rolex," it didn't take long before his friends advised him that those watching might have an issue with the name.  This fly has produced trout, bass, and salt species.  We were first turned on to the fly as a point fly when Czech stlye nymphing.  George Daniel uses this fly with great success as a jigged streamer in high, stained water.  It works.  Everywhere. For all species.

A South Texas favorite and one of the great flies to come out of the Hill Country.  This fly can immitate hoppers, crickets, and spiders.  It floats high and is durable.  Dip it in a bit of Fly Agra and this fly will float all day.  While originally designed for bass and other panfish, we dare you to toss this for trout.  Available in Yellow and Tan.

Wooly Bugger - Brown - The wooly bugger is a pattern that is universally successful. This is a classic and the standard setter for much of streamer design. The marabou tail undulates in water and drives fish crazy. Keep a good assortment of this pattern. Also available in Black and Olive.

Micro Zonker - Black - A great pattern for fishing in both salt and fresh water. Smallies, crappie, bluegill, and trout in freshwater, snook and sea trout in the salt. A timeless classic (in a smaller form) that has not lost its edge or effectiveness.

This is one of the most unlikely looking flies to be wildly effective that we have fished. A Damsel hatch is the perfect time to fish this pattern, and be prepared for some wicked strikes.
