A classic mantis with a twist. The body is made of Semperfli Eggstatic Chenille Fritz. This material not only looks shrimpy and translucent when wet, it also has tiny pearlescent guard hairs built into the material that fish can't resist. Mr Daniel is one of the OGs in the competition world. He has since focused more of his time on teaching and passing along his knowledge the the next generation. His flies are simple, quick to tie, and they hook loads of fish. Jigged streamers -- if you haven't tried them -- are deadly. By either adding a bit of movement during the dirft (tap your rod with your forefinger) or by just letting your rig swing out, this simple fly of chickabou will entice fish that might look past a big streamer but are looking for a meal bigger than a size 22 equivalent.

If we ever find ourselves stranded on an island surrounded by redfish (could we be so lucky?!?!), we sure hope that we have a pile of Po Boys and Hopedale Crabs. Arguably, these are the only two redifsh flies needed 80% of the time. This fly is tied on an Ahrex TP650, which has a 26 degree bend.  With the eyes placed on top of the shank, this hook acts like a jig hook.

Mr Alvin D is one of the most entertaining, down-to-earth fly fishing mega stars out there. This is his genius guide-style crab/shrimp/eat-me fly. By guide-style, we mean "few materials, easy to tie, very deadly."

Another go-to fly from Mr Kraft. A favorite among bass guides, this is a strike-inducing crayfish pattern for all species. We leave the legs a bit longer for more movement. Feel free to trim them a bit if you like.
