The Palometa Crab Fly is a specialty fly originally designed to catch Permit, although it is also effective at catching other flats species, including bonefish and redfish. Stripers like the pattern too!
New production of this fly is being tied as follows:
#8 as stated above is tied on #8 Tiemco 811S (This hook requires a lighter tippet)
#6 as stated above is tied on #8 SL-11 3H
#4 as stated above is tied on #6 SL-11 3H
#2 as stated above is tied on #4 SL-11 3H

Additionally, new production also includes a weed guard, which can easily be trimmed off if it is not necessary.

A classic pattern from Mr Isley. The original accounts for more Permit eats than we can count. This new version uses yellow eyes - kinda like new rims on a '64 Impala - a timeless, classic chasis with shiny new outer bits. As one guide recently told us, "yellow eyes are so IT right now."

The Wide Body Spoon Fly is designed to be stripped slowly, then allowed to drop. The fly will pull back from the fly fisherman while it drops, maintaining slight tension and wobbling downwards in the most enticing manner. Takes are seldom subtle!
This shape most commonly imitates a crab or frog.

Dave Skok's Strong Arm Merkin has become one of the most important Permit flies, winning or placing in many Florida Keys Tournaments. Jan Isley's Raghead Crab has been a go-to since the 80s. Nick Denbow's vision of these two flies mashed together is what we're calling the Mayan Claw. "Give 'em the claw...the claw...you know, the claw?"
Fished in the surf or on the flats, this fly has been tested and produced in all situations.

If we ever find ourselves stranded on an island surrounded by redfish (could we be so lucky?!?!), we sure hope that we have a pile of Po Boys and Hopedale Crabs. Arguably, these are the only two redifsh flies needed 80% of the time. This fly is tied on an Ahrex TP650, which has a 26 degree bend. With the eyes placed on top of the shank, this hook acts like a jig hook.
