STANDARD: Our Standard EuroMax leaders are perfect for those who are just starting out with euro nymphing and learning to cast this type of rig. It is the easiest version of our EuroMax line of leaders to cast because of the larger diameter butt section and they transfer energy well. It is also the best option for fishing upstream with tuck cast presentations, or using heavier flies/streamers. Great for dry-dropper rigs when using larger dries with more air resistance. The trade-off is that you will have more sag at distance due to the larger diameter butt section. Our hand-built modular euro-nymphing sighter leaders have top-quality mono materials to ensure enough mass for water load casting, but minimal diameter to ensure as drag-free a drift as possible and allow for proper presentation. Our Standard EuroMax leaders start with a 20lb (0.017) Maxima Chameleon butt section (various length), tapering to 15 lb (0.015) mid-section, to a 12lb (0.013) multi-color sighter. They also include a high-quality 2mm tippet ring to preserve your leader with your various tippet applications over time.
MICRO: Our thinnest diameter and most sensitive version of our EuroMax leaders; therefore, you will have less sag due to the thinner butt section. The micro thin profile is for those who are already experienced in euro style casting, provides for the ultimate in strike detection and sensitivity, and best drift performance in windy conditions. The MicroThin leader is best for maintaining dead drifts with across current presentations. The micro version is more difficult to cast for distance, especially in windy conditions or with a dry-dropper set-up, since you have less mass in the line and therefore does not transfer energy as well, so that is the trade-off. Spot Your Sighter Instantly with the Sighter Tracer, which is included on both the STANDARD and MICRO. It is important to be able to locate your sighter immediately after the cast. If lighting or contrast is poor, this can sometimes be hard to do, and meanwhile you are losing an important part of your drift searching for the sighter, especially if you dropped the sighter under the surface. Our Sighter Tracer solves that problem for you. This is a bright fluro orange, adjustable knot with about 1" tags that is tied on the transition section, above the sighter. You can move this knot up and down the transition section to wherever suits you best and for present conditions. After the cast, the Sighter Tracer gets your eyes on the leader and sighter immediately, letting you get your drift dialed in instantly. It also doubles a very sensitive extra indicator that lets you spot the most delicate of takes.
