In size #14 I found this to be much more productive than a Thin Mint Wooly Bugger, fished with a fast strip. I think smaller flies can be more productive, that dark tungsten are much more productive than brass beadhead, and the short-ish tail on this fly reduces short strikes. This one is well-tied and great colors!

I almost hate to let one of my secrets out, which nobody will believe anyway! Along with a BWO quill-body parachute, this Skinny Nelson is one of my two most productive flies. It is indeed slender and just the right amount of sparkle for baetis nymph imitation in size 20 and 22. If I could only have two flies, it would be this one and a BWO quill parachute.

I haven't fished this yet but I have been transitioning from chenille san juan's to wire worms. Since this doesn't come in red, I used a sharpie to add color to it. I can't wait to use it!!!
