The Gurgler is an excellent top-water fly pattern. This pattern attracts fish because of the foam lip, which creates a wake on the water as the fly is stripped. Bubbles are created behind the fly, which is equally enticing. The Gurgler is effective for many saltwater species, including seatrout, striped bass, redfish, tarpon and snook, and effective for freshwater pike and bass.

Had to re-order this gurgler after having the only three in the box shredded by trout and reds on the lower Laguna Madre flats. And not because they didn't hold up: just too many vicious strikes by good fish.
A really attractive pattern for surface-feeding predators in shallow water, and I know you'll get my resupply order to me fast...and at a great price. Thanks for being a first-class resource!

I caught a bunch of baby tarpon (5-15 pounds) on this fly fishing in a mangrove channel near Placencia, Belize (Spring 2013). On nearly every well placed cast I got takes by baby tarpon. If the fly landed a bit further out from the edge of the mangroves, it was slammed by small snook. Great fun.
