The Kreelex is a Chuck Kraft creation. Chuck was a guide and master fly tyer. As the story goes, Chuck guided 160+ days per year and started guiding in South America in the 1990's. It was here that he first used the Kreinik flash that is used to tie this fly. The material moves, pulsates, and breathes in the water. While the original name was the "Rolex," it didn't take long before his friends advised him that those watching might have an issue with the name. This fly has produced trout, bass, and salt species. We were first turned on to the fly as a point fly when Czech stlye nymphing. George Daniel uses this fly with great success as a jigged streamer in high, stained water. It works. Everywhere. For all species.

The WD stands for wood duck, which is used to tie the tail of this very successful nymph. The WD40 midge larva nymph pattern is one of the most effective patterns we have fished, and is also effective at imitating baetis nymph.
Check out our Fly of the Week blog post about the WD-40 here.

The Mole Fly emerger is a very effective mayfly emerger fly. The shaggy body of natural dubbing is meant to sink in to the film. The CDC wing and a few strands of fluoro fibers act as a wingcase. Trout will grab this fly as an emerging or crippled mayfly.

All Stillwater Flies - Mother Shucker Midge

- Quantity in Basket: none
Price as low as:
$1.49
As much as we all love a good dry fly eat and as much press as nymphs get ("nymphs account for 80% of a trout's diet"), trout spend a lot of time between the two slurping easy prey in the surface film. This pattern lives in the surface. The hackle-stacker style hackle and foam shuck result in a maintenance-free-stay-in-the film gem.
