There are several good reasons to carry a thermometer. First, a trout's metabolism will change as a function of water termperature. Water temperature also impacts insect activity. Finally, and arguably most important, when termperatures reach 64 degrees, we should be mindful of taking photos. If water temps hit 68 degrees, the probability of mortability goes up so significantly and that we should stop fishing.
